Default 1996 Land Rover TDC p0420

I have an OBDII scanner and have read TDC P0420. Does this mean that my catalytic converter is bad on bank 1? How do I check for my O2 sensor if it is bad. What should be my readings from the 4 sensor when I'm on idle and or on speed?

Thanks for your help

It means the left cat's efficiency is below the threshhold. How many miles are on the vehicle? It may be time to replace the cats.

Phil,

My son brought the rover to a muffler shop and had the catalytic converter temperature check and it read 500+ degrees and confirmed that it is bad. Do you know what it should read. My son forgot to ask the technician the right temp. And do you think an aftermarket converter is okay rather than getting an OEM.

Thanks for all you help

temperature is not the only test, you want to be sure it is hotter on the out side than the in side. but 600F is about right
